Hello, im new here and its good to meet you all. I have been seriously thinking about a bike for the best part of a year now. Before that it was just a pipe dream. I live in the UK and i am 19.5

My first thoughts were to save up enough money for the tests etc, the bike and the gear. I know that i want a cruiser but im thinking about the size now.

If i do my test this summer, i can only ride a max of 125cc. I know this size would be a good size to start out on, but im thinking i may out grow it quite quickly. I would be ristricted for 2 yrs. My other option is to wait until i am 21, only a year and a half, and do the test then. I could then get any size bike i want. I was thinking around the 500/600 cc mark in a cruiser. I would like to wait the year and a half, but i would also like to do my test etc this summer. any advice? I think i may wait tho...

First off, I haven't taken my course yet either so I am not riding yet, just gathering info like you so my advice is worth very little! I'd take the course now, practice for the next few years, enjoy the time on the bike, then at 21, be better prepared for whatever cruiser you want. Maybe you don't have the power now, but at least you'll have a few years experience behind you.

Go ahead and do the test. Take a riding course immediately. Get the 125. You will learn so much riding that around that will help you later. More than you realize now I assure you. At this point in your riding career light weight is your friend. Without the extra power to mask your shortfalls (and we all had them) you will be forced to learn about keeping up your corner speed, choosing a line and being in the proper gear.
