a fender eliminator eliminates the ugly stock fender and plate mount on a sportbike, it replaces it with a smooth piece and minimalist plate mount. They do a good job of cleaning up the look of the tail end of a sportbike

after (obviously the pipes are another project, but... no more beer tray/fender!)

usually what a "fender eliminator" actually is, is a new small as possible bracket that holds the plate and signals, or one that tucks the plate like I did.

What the above said. To me it doesn't make the bike look better taking off the fender. Some people need to spend money on things like this, but I never felt the need. I rather change things that deal with comfort like seat, grips etc.

Another reason to get fender elim kits is that they often protect your signals (because they are more compact) in the case of a slide if you have sliders on. The stock ones tend to stick out to much and if you slide they always end up getting damaged. I have never crashed but I know many a friends who had to replace the stock signals after a low side.

Things like loud mufflers and fender eliminators are part of what alot of guys with sportbikes do, because everyone else does.

Be careful with the mufflers unless you like to "pee" off your neighbors. I live around alot of older folks and they appreciate that I have never changed any of the pipes on my bikes.

it's all about personal preference. a lot of bikes have ugly tail sections that it seems the manufacturers put very little thought into, and it's a pretty easy mod to do. Similar thing for honda shadows and magnas out there called a Billski taillight mod which removes the stock "brick" of a taillight and replaces it with an underfender catseye style light and an angled license plate bracket.. some folks dig it some don't
