Questions about dropping the bike

Is there a rider who has never dropped a bike? Is it inevitable? How could I screw up that would result in a dropped bike?

What are the circumstances under which a bike might be dropped?

What is the hazard of dropping a bike? Can you do real structural damage to the bike by letting it drop? Would dropping a bike result in damages of say, more than $300?

How badly can you be hurt if you drop a bike?

How heavy is the bike? Did you get a body part caught between it and the ground? Think about it......

It was a "user contributed" list... and note the editorial comment (about cluelessness)

That's probably from the rec.motorcycles newsgroup. There's been a running joke on there for years now that shaft drifen bikes don't countersteer, nor can they be wheelied.
