Why no motorcycle TV commericals?
Why no motorcycle TV commericals?
Actually, I don't watch TV, but when I did I don't remember seeing any commercials on TV? Is there not enough money to be made?
I occasionally see Vespa and Honda VTX comercials. Considering the fact that motorcyle manufacturers pander to motorcycle entusiasts who are already motorcycle owners it's no suprise that most marketing would have a more limited target audience such as magizines (rather than a broad audience like televiosion). for example, everybody who owns a middleweight naked knows when Ducati bumps up the CC's of the Monster.
If sombody started making bikes for a broader audience which means newcomers and design them to be easy to ride the way ATVs are designed and marketed then it would make more sense to run television advertising for the general public. It's a shame Victory or sombody else doesn't fill that gap. I'm sick of sportbikes and cruisers and sick of the BIG NEWS that Honda bumped up the HP of some model slightly or that Suzuki fixed an engine heat problem.

I see commercials for all of them on Speed, on tuesdays especially. I see alot of dirt bike commercials. But for the most part, motorcycle manufacturers don't want to advertise to an audience that mostly doesn't own a motorcycle. Its like only 1 in every 200 vehicles in the US is a motorcycle, so companies aren't going to benefit much from advertising to the general public.

Hey Harley was unchanged for YEARS. Their biggest '5 year' improvements were new styled handgrips or something.freebird wrote:I occasionally see Vespa and Honda VTX comercials. They do make this. They are 250 - 650cc scooters. It doesn't get much more accessable than that. Unfortunately, scooters are considered "Wimpy" and a niche market in the states. In Europe they have national scooter commercials all the time. Here in Italy, they even give away a free aprilia 50cc scooter when you buy a certain model car... Speed TV is about the only place I see them. Not that I've looked particularly hard elsewhere (as speed is about the only channel I watch...and I watch it rarely)

Honda has one for the dirt bike series. I am always humming
"I wanna ride, I wanna ride, I wanna ride..."
I think the spot has the little kid in his motogear in the house, at school, etc., then they finally take himout to the track. Also, one with the whole fam, mom, dad and kids lined up with their CB's in size order...
I may have seen one for the Suzuki Boulevard series too. Must have been on Spike, Speed, or some other manly channel while watchng a 007 movie (Connery is the ONLY Bond)...
