Check this out, real world tests for the HP/Torque of a large variety of sportier bikes.

Where is yours, how does it measure up... does it really matter?

I see the Sportster 1200 has the highest horsepower of any of the bikes.. Who'd a thunk it?

That's a nice list. If you grab a copy of the magazine off the rack, they have a few pages in the back of each issues with all their actual test data for all the bikes they have looked it. Dyno runs for hp and torque, all the usual performance info.

I'm always pretty impressed by my bikes numbers. I totally under-utilize what it has to offer. Suppose that is somewhat common. Concours is on my short list, and it seem more than powerful enough.

GS500 39.2 hp BABY! A whopping 26.6 lb ft of torque.

And I fully enjoy every bit of it. And when the cosmos allign with the axis of the sixth deminsion of flurbidia it will even pick the front wheel up a few inches.

I love my bike.

Speaking of screw-ups on their site... they list the HP and torque etc. for the 2003 Buell XB12S but there was no XB12S in 2003 ... I gotta write the magazine's editor(s), i noticed this in the back of their magazine too.

I think many people buy bikes simply for bragging rights and don't even come close to using all of their bike's power This month's Motorcyclist magazine has an article comparing the "middleweights" and the the writer of that article pretty much says that it takes almost a pro-racer to use all of a mid-range sport bike's power.

Stick that up your jumper "v-twins produce more torque, better for twisties etc" crowd!

if i use it all it's on accident
seriously though, i'm thinking of putting a sticker on my helmet, i heard that adds at least 8hp and that'll put me over that 100 mark
