Spooked.

OK, so after my mild low-side yesterday, I rode home. And I went out again for an hour last night, and it was all good.
This evening, went out for a spin, and started off OK, not great. Then, about 25 miles from home, I just started feeling paranoid and tense. I'm thinking its the low-side creeping into my subconscious. I was paranoid that I smelled something burning, or that there was a bad vibration that wasn't there yesterday, or that the bike felt like it was drifiting. It just all felt off, or at least I was off and imagined the stuff with the bike.
In any case, I got home OK. Put the bike on its stand, gave it a whatsover... nothing looks out of sorts. Must just be me.
Anyone else get spooked or have off days like this?

Saturday a week ago I hear the police sirens, I live in a very small town the sirens are heard all through town, anyway; turns out that a pick up hit a deer on the same road that I travel every day to work and back. That kind of spooks me a little, I have added lites that I aim a little to the sides and I also slow down to 55 and 60 mph. The man in the truck was air lifted to near by hosp. What happened was that a car hit the deer, the deer went up in the air and into the pick up window which was going the other direction. It will be OK you will get over it.

Probably just a mental thing. Maybe if you talke it to a shop and have them give it a once over it will set your mind at ease.

Probably a mental thing. I had the same problem for a while after my accident, but I'm pretty much over it now. Just take it slow for a few days until you get comfortable again.

Yes. Everytime I've done something more than adjust the chain on my old bike.
I dealt with it by taking it easy and only running it for short journeys just incase I was about to have a problem I'd not been aware of.

Good stuff. I went for an easy ride a while ago, and she seemed pretty good. Except for some light tapping I mentioned in another post just now...
Thanks.

Way to go Yoda. Just start/continue with what you're comfy with and go from there. The spook factor should eventually fade (not to be confused with making sure you are always staying "heads up" though)

Yeah I've had that feeling. Once in stop + go traffic I changed lanes and a few seconds later the car sitting where I had just been got rear ended by an SUV. Like the driver hit the gas instead of brake or something. All the way home I had that nervous tense almost-vomity feeling in my chest, even after I was out of traffic. Some days are just weird... good you're still riding!

Yeah man, I'd chalk it up to it all being in your head. I was a little nervous to ride, and still do get a little nervous in heavy traffic, after I go sideswiped by a car (about a month ago). What has worked for me to help me get ALOT more comfortable and more at ease in traffic is to go to an empty parking lot and really practice your emergency stuff, like braking and swerving. Once you are more confident in your skills (and not just the everyday ones when everthing is *perfect*, but in the ones you hope you don't have to use) I think the uneasiness will subside.

I have been spooked a few times and paid for it twice.
I was leaving work one Saturday and saw a Bronco flip twice in the air before landing on it's roof through and intersection. I was driving my first and only car, my 1972 Oldsmobile 98 with the 455 engine.
After I saw that wreck, an odd, uneasy feeling came over me. Needless to say, going down the highway, I came upon a parking lot. I locked the brakes and avoided rear ending the car in front of me by putting mine into the metal guardrail at 50mph. When I got out of the car, everybody was gone. So I popped the hood to see the damage, just picked up the battery off its side and motored home. The front clip got pretty smashed and can't find parts for her anymore so I had to buy a 2002 Mazda Protege5.
So, several months later, I am leaving work again and am crossing the bridge to get on I-40 when that spooked feeling comes over me again. I pay no attention and turn onto the on ramp. I-40 was under construction then and they had put freakin' stop signs at the entrance to the highway.
I stop, look, attempt to go but rethink it and BAM!!!...have a caved-in hatchback from being rear-ended.
A third time I got spooked, coming home from work once again, I decided to change my route. The next intersection I came to there was a Camero on its roof!
So, from now on, I pay close attention to this feeling of being spooked. I like to believe it is my guardian angel giving me a heads up.
