I ride a 2005 vt1100c2 Sabre. Am in the middle of a project. I am changing the OEM spark plug wires to red wires. The OEM are 7.7mm the new ones 8.5. The problem I have is that the boots at the coil end are on real tight. Was wondering if anyone has changed their plug wires and can offer any comments or suggestions. I have removed the seat, tank and wire box to expose the coils. It is a bit tight in there, but am sure if a remove a few more hoses should be able to access the coils easily. I haven't tried to remove the boot at the coil end yet other than to try to spin it with my fingers (no way). Any Help ??? Thanx and keep on ridin'

A lot of coils are made so that the leads cannot be removed.
It can be done but it requires you to almost completely dismantle them, make a few mods and then put it all back together with the new leads in place.

You may have to reduce the diamiter of the plug wire where it enters the coil. The new wire is .8 too big to fit the coil
