Hi Everybody, I am new here and already I need some advice. Last Friday I purchased a new YZF600R in Black. I went out today with a bunch of friends for a ride. We rode 320 miles today. Here is what happened though, I live in South Florida but we took the ride up into Central Florida today and in May if anyone is familair with Florida in May we have Love Bugs. The love bugs will kill your cars paint if you dont wash them off after a long period of time due to an acid that gets on your car when it comes in contact. Well after the ride and the bike had a fair amount of bugs on it. I got home let the bike cool a little and then went out right away to wash it. Well, the Upper Fairing after cleaning it you can see all the bug splatters still in the paint. I used compund, wax, swirl mark remover and still if you look at in the sun, you can still see the splatters like it messed up the paint. Every other body part came clean perfectly. Just the upper Fairing. Can I try to get Yamaha to Warranty this? This should not have happened. 5 Other guys had Black bikes today 3 ZX-14's and 1 Blackhawk and 1 Busa. I called each of them and their bikes came clean. Please help with sugestions if you can, Damm the bike is 3 days old..... Help....Thanks and sorry for the long one but I am beside myself

Well, I'm sure it's not anything wrong with the bike. The other guys probably had the same amount of bug "residue" left, but wasn't noticeable because their bikes are black.

While I can't begin to imagine why those other bikes came clean and yours didn't ...I highly doubt Yamaha is going to cover it under warranty.

Could be warrentied, if its a paint defect mayhaps?

I'd agree that it wouldn't be covered under warranty. YOU drove it through the bugs, therefore it's not a manufacturer's defect. Sounds harsh, but that's how it goes with a warranty. Owner-inflicted "damage" isn't covered.
Unless, like someone else said, there is a wide-spread and known problem with the paint on the bikes, you're SOL.

go down to a bike shop and get a cleaner called cycle wash (its a dark blue liquid). I have seen that stuff get all manner of bugs off of a bike, I have even seen it get oil off of a tire and brake rotor.

may as well turn it into a rat bike.
Sell the fairings on ebay and paint everything flat black with a spray can.

You either don't worry about this slight cosmetic imperfection or see if you can score the plastic on ebay. Often some companies sell the plastic parts. If you get a rock chip on it next are you expecting that to be covered under warranty? This isn't a problem with the bike or Yamaha.

Maybe your friends have used wax on their rides and that helped slow the action of the bug juice??? But unless there is a paint issue with the bike, I will have to agree with everyone else on the no warranty coverage...
