Stop by on irc.afterx.net in room #TMW if you know how to use IRC. I suggest getting a client like mIRC. Go on, it'll be fun! 8)

I'll probably go in it from time to time.

I can always fire up a chat server I made a couple years back and we can all chat via old school telnet. Kids today with their fancy emoticons and guis.

You mean IRC. IRC first came about in the late 80s. That may seem old school (and it is by todays standards) but doesn't compare to telnet in age.
Telnet isn't just for chat, it had other purposes too.

No, I meant ICQ, ICQ was the first kind of computer communication I used, and that was when I was like 8 or 9.

ICQ is only about 10 years old, its hardly old school at all.

Telnet is way too old school. SSH is the way to go. Telnet sends everything in unencrypted text. A no no on the Internet this day and age, specially if you are using it to log into stuff.

Haha, I know, that was my point, for me, that's old school. IRC and Telnet are before my time man. I mean, I was alive, but not using computers. Before like '97 the only thing I did on a computer was play LodeRunner on an old Mac. In '97 my dad bought a gateway with a 133mhz processor and like 32mb of ram. Then I started using ICQ, and playing Diablo (which I still play because it kicks "O Ring"), Duke Nukem, and GTA.

SSH is the way to go if you are sending filesystem data over the wire, I use it for remote logins. But what I'm talking about here is a simple chat server that implements the basic telnet protocol. Basically something similar to how a MUD was implemented back in the day as an example of a true old school multiuser chat session.
