So I got my bike back after the exhaust was replaced and omg what a difference.... Sounds Purty and feels like it has a lot more power... I put about 80 miles on it today and I can't feel my "O-Ring" anymore........... I guess its time to get a new seat...

I was wondering the same thing (about seats). It seems like bike manufacturers spent a lot of time and money designing top of the line bikes mechanically, but never seem to put a whole lot of thought into the comfort of their seats.

The seats are designed to be comfortable for the five minutes or so that a potential buyer is going to be sitting on them in the showroom.

That having been said, I find the stock seat on my KLR to be great - one year and 15000km later and I still find it comfy.

you're one of the few. my first bike was a marauder. that stock seat blew chunks. i got a mustang seat. brand new vstrom now? seat blows after about 30-45 minutes. i have to replace this as well. oh well, more money for the aftermarket

Every stock seat I've had gave me prostatosis, and the Streak's stock seat gave me back aches as well. I pretty much factor in the cost of a new seat into the price of every bike.

I am also one of the rare people who is comfortable on my stock seat.

Instead of paying several hundred dollars for a new custom seat, would a gel cushion that is designed for motorcycles do the job for you? They are around $150.00.

Wow... most of you guys got sensative bums.

I've never had a motorcycle seat give me grief. Not on the ninjette, my yama, my friend's BMW GS650, nor the suzuki gz250 MSF bike...not even on the pugeot moped I was playing around with a few weeks ago. I'll admit that isn't a huge sampling, but I take it to mean I'm a real hardass.

Most bikes, especially sportsbikes have seats that are designed to look cool in comparison to the rest of the bike. How it'll feel... never really factors in.

Because there's no money in making a good seat. No customer's going to avoid buying a bike they like simply 'cause the seat sucks, and the companies know it. They can shave a few pennies off their unit price of manufacture by going cheap on a part that has no bearing on sales.

Calculatingly cynical to the nth degree? You betcha. That's business.

what are some good manufacturers of aftermarket seats? I hear Corbin makes a good seat
