Yesterday my bike stalled out in the middle of a ride (that was interesting). I got it to a parking lot and let it relax for a bit before trying to start it again. It started and ran fine (only with the choke on) for a minute or so and the oil started gushing out of the left side of the bike. It's leaked a little since I bought it...but this was serious gushing. I'm assuming I have a blown gasket, but not sure which one or where I need to start looking.

I know auto engines pretty well, but I'm rather inexperienced with bike motors and I haven't had the opportunity to take anything apart because it's still sitting in that parking lot until tomorrow. I've been tooling through the shop manual without too much luck.

Do y'all have any advice that will steer me in the right direction?

Start by starting the bike.

Then get down there and look around as hard as you can. Do this until you see the source of the leak. You can't fix a leak you can't locate.

On your bike, there's a good chance it is leaking from the cooling oil line running into the head. They push a shitload of oil through those lines, a leak should be pretty obvious.

That's pretty much my plan once I get the bike back to my garage, but I do appreciate the reply.

Just a tip on finding stubborn oil leaks:

Clean the area completely with a solvent. I like Contact Brake Cleaner.

Spray area with a aerosol foot powder. This will make the leak very easy to identify.
