I'm from rainy WA, and thinking about installing couple of blue LED lights inside engine cover (it looks pretty :-D ), but wondering if its legal or not? Can I get away with saying something like "Its so other cars can see me better", or something like that?

Check your state DMV site or ask a friendly law enforcement officer about the legality. I don't think they're legal in PA while under motion. You can only use them when parked. But, that may have changed.

I believe blue lights are legal only on WA state approved vehicles. Which means police cars and the like, but not your bike.

Still, it won't hurt to ask an officer.

In Oregon you are not allowed to have any blue light visible on the outside of the vehicle. I believe you would be fine with white or even amber... check your DMV.

I saw a Goldwing with redlights hidden all over the engine over memorial day. My gawd was it purdy! And I don't even like Goldwings! (They're for geezers).

I believe that in every state it is legal to have white or amber lights on the front half and red on the back half if the vehicle is in forward motion. Any other colors are fine as long as you're parked.

I dont know the laws in wyoming on that, but considering all the cars I have seen with various shades of neon under them I dont think the cops here care.

A friend of mine has blue lighted frame sliders on his R1 and he has never been given any flack about them from the cops (he lives in colorado), these frame sliders are even wired into his turn signals so they blink when he uses his turn signals. He also changed his running lights on the front to blue and never gotten any flack for that either

Take a look around for, "Hyper-Strips™ LED Accent Lights" They're supposed to be brighter than normal....
