I am thinking about buying a 2002 with 2,000 miles for only $2,100. I am 6"1' and 160 pounds. Is this a good starter bike? I don't need anything fast but I would like it to have some jump. Thanks for your help.

I have one of those also, the price sounds fair, they seem to hold their value well. I'm 6'3" and rode it on a long ride one day (busa was in the shop) I'm a bit tall for it but I think that for the price it is a great starter bike for anyone. It's lightweight and powerful enough. You can ride it a few months, sell it for about what you gave for it and move up to something more powerful.

Thanks for the info. I found a 2002 Ninja 500R with 5,000 miles for $3,000. Would this be good to learn on? Also, how much bigger is the 500R? Thanks for the info.

The 500 physically isn't too much bigger, but it's definitely got a bit more punch. Excellent bike to learn on! (Also in pretty high demand as a learner - shouldn't loose too much value should you decide to sell it in a year or so)

I'd get the 500 is it's in similar shape as the 250. The 250 is fine to learn on but as soon as you get the riding down, it's time to move up. I think the 500 is even better. It is a little larger and will probably work better for a taller, heavier person.
I bought my 250 for my wife to learn on, after she begins riding well enough, I'll get her something larger and use the ninja to train my daughter and my daughter-in-law.

Hi! If you're going with the 500, can you get me in touch with the seller of the 250?
