So after all the replies on the fuel valve issue, I've started turning my fuel valve off everytime I par the bike....Course this morning I forgot to turn it on, went about half a block and nothing
Took me almost a full minute to figure out it was the fuel valve...I started around the panicky line of great..new bike, no good @#$@#$

That was how I dropped my bike the first time.
The bike stalled and I pulled over. Of course I tried to put my right foot down when the road slopped right. I felt her going down and just jumpped off. Immediately I started kicking the beast......just as a fellow rider came driving by. He said he was laughing too hard to stop.

When I got my current bike, it took me best part of a month to get used to te engine cutting out, if you put it in gear before pulling up the side stand.... D'OH
Oh and don't get me started on the time I didn't notice I'd caught the kill switch... Amazing the amount of swearwords you can teach yourself in these moments

Hey, I pulled into a gas station on a long ride, alone, turned off the bike, filled her up with gas, paid for the gas, put my helmet on, juped on bike, when I went to start it, nothing...I spent nearly an hour going over that thing (moms were covering the ears of children because of the words coming out of my mouth) and figured it out - I must accidently hit the kill switch, amazing how easy it starts when the kill switch is in the proper position.

Here's a tip - (Yes, I learned the hard way, too. ) Turn off the kill switch EVERY time you stop, then obviously back on every time you start. It becomes habit, then you will never again spend an hour polluting childrens' ears whilst trying to start your ride.

I've had way too many of these times to even try and count them - worst was on the FZ. It has an automatic tap (fuel pump) that you can manually operate to turn off, with the aid of a long screwdriver. Turned it off to work on bike, forgot to turn it on when leaving. fuel in carbs got me just out of pushing distance...
