Headlight go poop!

So I finally got my bike back together, the way I wired it for the headlight was by using just 1 wire. I'm not using the "bright" part of the bulb. Anyways, when I fired it up, everything was ok, then after a few minutes, the bulb died. So I switched the wire over to the "bright" part of it and same thing after a few minutes. Why would both filaments die almost the exact same way after the same amount of time? Just a bad/old bulb?
Thanks.

Ground is a good solid ground on the frame near the headlight. I checked with a multimeter both power and ground wire to headlight and they are fine. I can look into the bulb and see one side of the filament on both filaments are gone.

What's the power output of that single hot wire? Sounds like your over-amping the bulb.....

Would the fuse not blow first?
Is the globe a halogen?

It's just a standard Yamaha bulb. The fuse I have inline is a only a 10 amp so it's rated lower than stock for now. The fuse is fine too. Haven't blown one yet. I think it may just be a bad bulb eh?
