Hi,
I was wondering whether or not this would be a good beginner's bike. I read in an "Open letter to beginning motorcyclists" that a higher cc bike was ok, if it fell in the '85-early 90s time frame. I've read in FZR forums that this bike is ok as a beginner's bike due to the weight and the low center of gravity. I found one for about $1,400 local (Virginia), so this would be a really good deal, right? Thank you.

It depends on alot of things. Its hard to give strangers advice without knowing them. You might be a natural, in which case Im sure it would be fine. You might be unsteady or undisiplined, in which case you need to start on a small bike.

People around here generally tell you to get a Ninja 250 or 500, which is a good standard answer for strangers. At the same time, you know how you are. Use your brain and be honest with yourself.

The bike doesnt sound like a bad starter bike, but if you ride it like an idiot you will likely kill yourself.
