You could lose your job?

Yup, I was working as a bartender at a place around here and I was cut for some reasons agreed upon between my manager(slow business, too many workers) and some definite other reasons which were unfounded(he couldnt back up any of his claims in any regard when I confronted him about them during the conversation and just kept repeating the same thing)

Either way, I lost my job which means my bike could take quite a bit longer to acquire...lame. BUT I am glad I didnt start trying to make payments, only to lose the job/bike. That would definitely not be a good deal. I think I'll be going back to manual labor for a bit until I can find a more stable job for a bit. I can build up a large downpayment or payment on a bike in the meantime. Still, it was a pretty rough afternoon.

So, moral of the story, as some of you have suggested...do NOT get in over your head when buying/financing a bike, it could be a bad deal.

Just thought I'd share..have a good night all!

hmmmmm...i'm not toosure what type of bikes you're into but a friend of mine w/ mid 600s credit score got an R6 for $90/month....and thats a 10k sportsbike.

but i guess he's lucky....because i WAS and still am in the situation that you are....no job....couldn't make the huge payments every month...wayyyy more than $90.....had to re-finance w/ a 20% APR....

i'm happy tho. i love my bike. :D

P.S. hope you find a new job soon....if you're into computers..etc, i can help you find a job easily. let me know

Go out and buy a bike! Have confidence in yourself that you will find a way to pay for it, the bike payment will spark you to work harder, to find a better paying job. The fun you will have on a bike will be worth any money you spend on it.

Exactly.

And as far as a bike will bring me confidence? I dont really need to be any more confident/cocky than I already am hehe

I WILL get a bike, but I cant be foolish about all this. After all, I'm a college student and not in a huge rush(I want one bad but I can wait).

At least for now I can do some demo/construction work(very proficient at that stuff) here on my own time and get at least a very nice downpayment for a new bike or most of a used bike however it wont be enough steady work to support a payment every month.

I guess the bigger frustration was just the fact I lost the job in the first place, and the way in which it happened, I cant even put it as a reference. Bartending jobs are very difficult to find here, and I was good at it, but managers who get intimidated easily dont like me apparently?

Anyway, thanks for the support and I'll keep everyone updated. In the meantime I'll take the MSF and get goin on that :)
