Well odds were that I'd be in an accident sooner or later...
but a broken left arm and fractured jaw is a lot more of a B!&@$ then I had imagined.
Here's how it happened:I'm cruising down the street comfortbly at 35 mph, when some guy in a white van side swipes me as he makes a left turn into my lane. My luck... I shoulda seen it coming. Right as it happened, I remember trying to swerve over to the right, and then the concussion came. God bless the paramedics, firefighters and officers.
Well its gonna be 4 weeks with my jaw wired and 6 weeks without lefty, I guess it coulda beeb worse, I'm glad I even survived. Not sure about motos in the future.
Be safe.

George: Shut up Lenny, you're too stupid for a dog.
Lenny: At least I'm not an @ssoff.
how did you break your jaw? were you wearing a full faced helmet?
That really sucks man. I hope all heals well and that you can be back on a bike in no time

Live to ride; ride to live. Glad to hear you survived it; despite your current pain, many bikers would be thankful to have survived their accidents so well intact. My neighbor growing up bought a bike a few years ago and got side swiped on the freeway. He lost his right leg and fractured something in his back. Needless to say; things could have been worse. I’m glad you survived… I’m thinking my wife would consider four weeks w/ my jaw wired shut to be a dream come true.
Yes I was wearing a full faced helmet, I'll try and post some pics once I'm up to it.
My brother saw the damage, and tolf me my left side had crushed the right side of his van, breaking a large (roughly 12") circle out of the van's window. Needless to say, I am very lucky. I happen to know a lot of those horror stories.
At least I can confirm that I got at least a lil bit of my brother's luck, who's been swipped by semis a few times with only a few bruises resulting.
Now I'm trying to recover and do a bit of soul-searching.

Damn that sucks. Consider yourself lucky you had a concussion, and blacked out. I got him by a car in january while riding a bicycle in a parking lot, and had a concussion, so I don't remember the car slamming into my leg, or flying through the air, or hitting the ground. And I'm glad I don't. My last accident I remember clearly, I remember seeing the car pull out, I remember slamming my brakes, I remember slamming into the front of his pickup, I remember rolling over the the hood and hitting the ground, and I remember crawling off the road. I wish the second accident had been like the first, and I didn't remember it. Now when I ride, and see a car that looks like it's going to pull out, I get the image of me hitting that pickup flashing through my head, which is scary.
But anyway, get back on the bike, it will be scary at first, but after a little while you'll remember how awesome it is to ride. Heal quickly!

You know you can always rely on dad’s to give advise. When I brought my first motorcycle home at 16 my dad said “You always have to drive a motorcycle as if you are invisible to everyone else on the road.” I hate that people drive so d@mn stupid on the roads. My dad also told me that “Driving a motorcycle isn’t dangerous, it’s all of those @ssholes in cars that make it that way.” I just thought I’d share some of that good fatherly insight that was passed on to me. Don’t let your accident ruin motorcycling for you; dust yourself off and get back on the bull.
