Finally got my wife excited about biking!

I've been seriously wanting a motorcycle for a couple of years now, and actively shopping for the past few months. The entire time my wife has put up as many obstacles as possible, and my desire to get a bike has been the source of many fights. :frusty:

Yesterday I finally begged to go with me as I visited a few dealerships. At the end of the day, she was voicing her opinion on the bikes and was almost as excited as me about buying one! As a matter of fact, she was reluctant to leave one dealership, and I thought she was about to agree to buy it.

Can't tell you how much weight that is off my shoulders. Any similar experiences out there?

It took me months to convince my gf, but now she either wants to get her own bike, or start riding on the back of mine.

I wish I had a similar experience. My wife hates motorcycles and only went on the back of mine once and hated it. Every time I leave the house she is a nervous wreck and watches the clock... If I am not home exactly when I predicted I'd be home by she starts calling my cell phone and my friends' cell phones to make sure I'm alive.

My wife didn't like the idea of a bike but, she never says no to me. She went to all the dealers with me and looked at bikes and, I had the same experience as you. She got excited about it and had a lot of input for me. She rode dirtbikes in high school so, she does have experience and knowledge.

She'll never ride pinion but, I'm thinking in a year or two she'll want her own to ride. I'm thinking another S50 but in Blue....

If you have a dog, don't show her Gummi's website! She's got me looking at sidecars and trailers so I can take the dog with me on rides.... :frusty:

It was my wife's idea. Ever since we started dating, 9 years ago, she always said we were gonna get motorcycles. It finally happened last year. For me anywho. She will prolly get hers next spring. Until then, she is happy riding pillion.

My Husband drives a chevy 4door C30 Truck. Gas went to $3 gallon last summer. He puts in at least 100 miles a day. Enough said. July we bought a suzuki C90 BLVD. I started 2-up with him on group rides. I got tired of seeing nothing but DOT (on the back of is helmet) For my October Birthday he gives me a weekend of Motorcycle classes. I never even had touched handle bars and came in top of my class of 12 riders two ladies and ten men. I now own a suzuki savage. It weights about 300lbs and is 650cc. Perfect for now.
If you want your wife to ride two up Make sure she is a comfortable passenger. Nice seat and good sissy bar. Women seating on those M&M pads with no back rest hunched over and hanging on to rider are fools.
No wonder they don't want to ride.. Take them to a motorcycle store or show and let them sit on any and everything. Maybe they will change their minds. Goodluck

The greatest part is that before she wanted me to get the cheapest bike I could find. Now she's pushing me to get the best quality I can. She's the one trying to justify higher prices!

That said, she'll still be a nervous wreck for a long time when I'm riding.

Yep. My wife insisted from the beginning that I buy new. The only requirements she had originally were it had to be brand new and I had to wear all the safety gear all the time. Who am I to argue?

I started looking at the 250 cruisers after sitting on the dual sports and adventure tourers and finding out I was too short for them. Then, after looking around, she told me to get something bigger than a 250 cruiser.
