Bought my bike yesterday!!!

#1 Unread post by JediNut »

I just wanted to say THANKS to everyone here who took the time to share their wisdom with me about choice in bikes!

The overwhelming consensus was (despite my size...6'4" 230lbs), that I should keep it under a 1liter, 60HP bike....so that's what I did! I picked up a BEAUTIFUL Black 2003 Suzuki Volusia 800. It has an 805cc engine and cranks out 56 HP. It moves me along just fine. I had a buddy bring it home for me (since it had to go on the freeway) and he said it handled great at 75mph! That's from a guy who just spent 5 times as much on his 2005 Harley Deuce!!!

I have christened my bike "Bart", after the notorious outlaw Charles "Black Bart" Bolles, not the underachieving Simpson offspring! (Yes, we are one of those strange families that names their vehicles, so now we have: Bart, Buster, Shamu, Gump and Elsa!)

Thanks again for all of the GREAT advice!

Close....
  • Shamu - 2003 White Ford Expedition
Buster - 2002 Silver Toyota Corolla (35 mpg!)
Gump - 2006 Silver Subaru Forrester
Elsa - 2002 Silver Mercedes CLK 430 Convertible (sweet ride!)
Shamu and Buster are mine, Gump and Elsa are my wife's.

Yes...there are only two drivers in our family and FIVE vehicles! :frusty:

Wisdom this motorcycle has? Confused you are I think. Only things they are. Wisdom they cannot posses.

Happy bike day!
Ride it like you think owning it matters.
