A grand plan

Here's the plan...
I'm riding about 1000 miles, through 3 countries, from Southampton, UK, through France, to Santander in northern Spain.
I'm giving myself 26 hours to make the journey (including crossing the English Channel.
Any tips for a long ride?
Any stories of your mammoth journeys?

What sort of bike you got? When you going?
Was speaking to a guy the other day and he said the ferry from Plymouth to Spain is good - cost about £300 (including double cabin). You had any experience of that?

It's a naked FZ6
My brother lives in Santander, where the ferry goes, so if I went on the ferry there'd be no bike trip... The whole point of the journey this time is to go on the bike. We'll do a bit of riding there too, but it's the getting there and the getting home that we're looking forward to.

Have a great trip. I'm off to S Ireland in August with a couple of mates (3 bikes). Should be good, but some of the roads leave a little to be desired (quality of surface), but it's such a fantastic country.

I'll ask my partner to post. She did the run to Gibralter with Raff on his Savage.
The only thing I can remember is that it gets cold through the Pyrenees...
