This is probably a stupid question but what is the difference in these 2 icons in the forum post list?

why does one move and one doesn't? What makes a thread hot? Is it just how many posts are in that thread?

Down at the very bottom of the main page is a legend that explains what they all mean. The moving one is to signify a popular thread, where a plain one is unpopular...lol. I mean not popular yet.
