I had a mechanic recommend Amsoil. He swears by it and uses it in his own bikes as well as those of his customers.

Basically oil is oil. There are addatives added to oils in different amounts in different brands. Many people buy the brand name. I myself like Castrol GTX 20/50 in Summer and 10/40 wieght for Winter. However; many of the guys here on the forum use Wal-Mart brand oil, which works just as good, and does the job for them.

I also use Castrol GTX. When we used to drag race, we only ran Castrol and actually had our motors last longer than if we used, say Penzoil. The engine always stayed cleaner too. :D

I found this out after I started using Castrol in my Bike.
I started using it in my autos and saw noticeable difference in amount of sludge in engine (none after using Castrol, since 1976 I swear by it).

Castrol GTX in all my vehicles. Inexpensive and the additive package on the heavier weights (10W-40, 20W-50) are wet-clutch friendly. Perfect for your bike!
