Being from Wisconsin now i was wondering what is the coldest temperture you will ride in?

Being very new i am wondering just how many months a year i will be able to ride in comfortably.

What is the best gear to keep warm in?

i'll ride around 0 Cel. (32 ish).

get warm gloves or grip warmers.

chaps keep the wind out but "the boys" will not enjoy the cold weather so long underwear or some insulated pants.

Since you are from a place that actually experiences winter i will not preach about the need to layer clothing in the winter/cold but that's another key to it all.

keep in mind though, that cold tires ride like bowling balls so you need to be careful

I haven't been riding long but I don't want to ride if temperatures drop below freezing.

I'll ride short distances in any temperature :) Longer than 10 miles... probably 40 degrees. I did think about getting some heated grips and heated clothing etc. but I am too lazy.

i'm from 'sconsin too, and i start riding the first nice day after the first rain that's washed the tons and tons of road salt off (normally mid to late march) until it starts threatening to snow again (mid to late november). normally i don't do much late fall riding because i'm chasing whitetails around, but i've gone riding the first week of december. dress warm, and if you've got a windshield, it can be a lifesaver.
what part of wisconsin are you from?

I ride year round... live in MD, outside Baltimore. We don't get much snow to speak of and it usually melts between storms. But it does get cold.

I'm extra careful in the early morning, cause dew can make roads ice-slick if its 32 or colder.

What I wear:
>Rev'It Motion Jacket,
>BMW Savannah Pants with UnderArmor "cold" long johns,
>Heated grips, but I add in Rev'It gloves with Schoeller inner linings. My finger tips still get pretty chilly if I ride for long.
>'toasty toes' stick on thingies on the bottom of my socks before I put on my boots. Warm feet makes the cool legs bearable.

40 is the absolute minimum that I'll go for a ride. Heck even the 50's is MIGHTY COLD at speed.

I'll ride down to 32-degrees with my current gear, which isn't really 4-season stuff. If I had a better coat, some riding pants, and a windshield with lowers I'd probably ride regardless of temperature.

8 degrees. I ride to work as long as snow and ice permits.
