First snag - minor but annoying

#1 Unread post by buddhacide »

Hi. I'm a noob that recently bought my first bike. I have been gradually familiarizing myself with it in preparation of my training course this weekend. Today, however, I went to take it for a bit of practice and noticed
a little plastic part that's normally attached to the front wheel well, seemingly to prevent what I think is the breakline from touching the wheel, has broken and is now dangling on the break line. I bought some crazy glue to try to attach it but no go. What is this little piece called, and exactly how difficult would it be to replace it? Remember - total noob here.

I took a picture on my camera and tried to email it to myself, but seemingly its lost in transit. I'll post it when it arrives.

ziptie....

or duct-tape
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Don't worry about that piece, it pretty much doesn't do a thing. When I was running my bike without a fender, I would just zip tie the speedo and brake cable together

I agree. I'm a zip-tie-aholic. I love those little things. I don't even use bolts anymore on anything. My wheels, engine, handlebars are all held on with zip-ties.

I'm kidding of course.

I really like zip-ties though. :D

Problem is the thing is broke clear off. There is no place to use a zip (although i will be picking some up). I'll need to either replace it or glue it somehow.

find some aluminized epoxy if you are hell bent on reattaching it. The stuff is great and holds to just about anything, it is also heat and chemical resistant too.
