1985 Honda Magna running too hot

She's been getting into the red way to fast and staying there, and that's not in stop and go traffic. Needless to say I'm not riding her until I figure it out. When I am riding I notice that my left leg feels a lot of heat.
The coolant is new and it's flowing, the oil is new. I'm not sure if she's running lean since it's a pain in the "O Ring" to get to the spark plugs. Thoughts?

I'm not intimately familiar with your particular cooling system, but the usual suspects in overheating are :
1. Fan not working
2. Thermostat not working
3. Poor coolant flow (radiator plugged)

My fan kicks on before she gets to the red. Does that rule out fan and thermostat?
I checked the flow by squeezig the line. I'm not too sure what else to do to check that. It feels like a strong flow, but maybe I'm wrong.

Since your fan is coming on that rules out the fan and the thermoswitch. I would bet it is either the thermostat or the cap. Good luck.

Make sure that temp gauge is reading properly.
