A new member says "Hello."

#1 Unread post by greyf0x53 »

After looking this community over for a few weeks I decided to join. I am a new rider (taking the MS course in July) although I have ridden quads & dirt bikes in the past.
I am 53 but have spent my life wanting to take up motorcycles but always found a reason not to until now. I bought a Yamaho 650 Silverado and all of the riding gear except for riding pants. While I haven't traveled far from home I have been riding around my neighborhood learning to use the clutch.
So far, so good. I can't wait to take my class. If they had the safety course when I was younger, I might have taken this up sooner.
I look forward to taking advantage of everyone's collective experiences to help me to ride safely and to get as much enjoyment out of riding as possible. Thanks.

Welcome aboard! I didn't start riding until I was 35. And we have a few more members here who started in their 40's/50's. You're not alone. Have fun with the riding course - you'll learn a lot of technique that is easy to apply in everyday riding practice. Enjoy the forums!

Cheers,
Loonette

:welcome:. There's nothing wrong with starting at your age or any age for that matter, safety is what counts.

It's never too late to start! I'm 43 and only on my first full season.

I am half-way through the PAMSP and about 1/3 of my class is within 10 years (+ / -) of my age although one older gentleman did drop out. He was suffering shortness of breath after walking the course bike to the starting position. It makes me wonder, do they do this exercise to weed out people who may be less than physically capable? My son took this course last year and they did the same thing with the people in his class. Did anyone else's PAMSP class make them do the same thing?
