I'm ready to move up from the 250, but to what?

(back story)Well I've been ridding the 250 for a while now, bike had a used motor put in it because it fried a bearing in the old motor (it's a long story saved for another thread) The motor in the bike now is loosing/burning oil pretty fast, it's at the point where oil needs to be added to the bike once a week and i now don't like ridding it. I'm rebuild the original motor with .050 over bore and porting the head. but I think a new bike is in order. because well a 265lb 6'7" guy on the freeway on a 250 fells like... well this :frusty: :laughing:maybe not that bad but still.

Start here if you want to skip the first part!
So i've been looking at getting a 500. finally got around to ridding one. I liked it, don't get me wrong but, I fell I might be ready for more.

So here's what I'm looking now for brand new bikes
YZF-600R
pros: it's a yamaha. 4cyl, a 600
cons: It's carburated, who makes a 06 carburated?
YZ6
pros: fuel injected, it's naked
cons: it's batch fuel injection, it's naked
Ninja 650R
pros it's based off the bullet proof side by side twin, positive neutral finder!!! the green matches my helmet. it has good fuel injection!
cons: it seats differently, I'm not sure if i like it or not, it's a 2cyl, it's a kawi

the other rout is finding a Aprilia. my friend's 125 Aprilia was faster than my ninja 250.

I fail to see why a carbed bike is a bad thing.

maintenance mostly. It's not a really bad thing. but i'd much rather have fuel injection. also they are downdraft carbs rather than sidedraft.

I know kawi well. I always find myself fixing something on them. I like their tranny's. but I've seen some good things from yamaha. my roomate owns 2 kawis and I would like to try something different. I almost bought a 636 a few months back, glad i didn't. the windsheild was too low for me, i could not see the top of the tach. plus I don't need a track bike. i don't think I'd want to go on trips on a 636

so yeah, then get that FJR... that'd be perfect for trips and the power is exciting enough. of course, none of this is 1st hand info. :D

I thought you couldn't get the RS125 in the states because its a 2-stroke?

PS - 650R's aren't green. Black/silver with red frame. Or silver/black red frame.
