Montesa Ignition problem

I have a Cota 349 with points ignition and it will only spark part of the time when you kick it over. I've had it run but it would only run for about 5 seconds.

What troubleshooting measures have you tryed so far? Cleaned and gapped the pionts? Check all the wiring connections for tightness and corrosion, check the wires for continuity, check the high tension lead to the plug and change the plug.
If I was guessing...... bad coil.....
