Getting a quote on a new bike from a dealer - How is it done

#1 Post by M109R » Thu Jun 15, 2006 8:30 am

Does anyone know how to find what a reasonable purchase price for a new bike is? I want to buy a 2006 Honda VTX1300 C and I can't get a quote from any dealer. They all say, "Come in with a quote from another dealer and we will beat it by $200...." Catch 22 no one will give you a quote!!

Very frustrating to do competitive shopping!!

Thanks!

Call a dealer, and tell them you want an "out the door" cash price on your bike.

They will then say "come on in and we'll work something out".

You will then say, "No, you can tell me over the phone what your OTD price is. I'll give you 20 minutes to call back".

Lather, rinse, repeat until you find the price you want.

At or below MSRP, out the door, is usually considered a good deal. Don't let them charge you BS freight/setup fees.
"At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Call up every dealer in 100 miles and ask them to e-mail, or fax you a quote, out the door price, and let them know you have quotes from other dealers, or take a printed copy of that quote and take it to a dealer and ask him to beat it, doing it that way you should save at least $1000 off the price. The lowest price on the Honda VTX1300 would be $6995, and the highest should be around $7699, the VTX1800 is $1000 more.
