In my opinion, if the police want to catch the "IDIOTS" on these bikes, then maybe they should get some of their own to ride and train some officers in high speed pursuit. Maybe even have a team that is loaned out to different jurisdictions across the country, maybe ex-racers???

There are a whole lot of you sportbikers that should be getting involved in a kind of self regulation of these idiots that make every single one of you look bad. Report those that street race, stunt or perform other dangerous activitie off or outside of a track type enviroment.

I know, who wants to be a rat... Well, have you ever reported a drunk driver?? Then there is really no difference, both activities are illegal.

I dunno, after seeing this link on that site I don't think I can blame the cop who dislikes sportbikes.

I hope I never run into the guy who wrote this. He scares me just a little.

"Next time these bikers diss you in traffic, just do this...."

The problem with this though is the risk is far too high. Too high for the officer, the other people on the road, and way too high for the squid being pursued if he decides to flee. Cops can't just run people off the road for a speeding ticket without getting lawsuit etc... as unfortunate as that is.

Anyway I was disappointed to see the officer say that, until the part stating the bias is only against sportbikes so no problem here!

Problem is, how many of the cops really know the difference between a high end sport bike and a Ninja 250? Or a standard and a "stunt bike?" How about a sport touring bike vs a sport bike? Unless they ride themselves, I doubt many of them can.

From reading that thread, it's either a harley(cruiser) or a squid to most of them.

It's a very naive thread. For a majority of officers, I don't think motorcycle takes high importance when compared with other crimes which are more focused on. So I don't think they study all that much into it.

Motorcycling culture is NOT that complex when compared with non traffic related crimes. I find it appalling that the original poster was so ignorant. He was incredibly vocal. Despite his bark, he's in the minority. Thank God for that.
