so i've got a '75 honda cl360 and i've noticed that the big fat rubber tube that comes out of engine and runs down by the pegs is spitting out some white smoke when i'm idling... is this normal or is smoke bad?

It's normal. (It's just steam and maybe some oil from your crankcase vent)

On newer bikes, this tube runs up into the airbox to recirculate the air, so you don't see the steam and stuff.
