So I'm looking for a new ride, and I'm looking at the 2006 Yam 1100cc V-Star Classic. Anyone had any experience with this bike...good or bad ? I'm also having trouble locating one, it seems there are none left until the 07's come out . XS

Go Italian - Buy MOTO GUZZI!!

(Just kidding, know you're a Yammie fan)

Here's a topic for you. The first few posts are worthwhile reading. When you see the name "MotoF150" feel free to stop...

Moto-Guzzi ?? As a mater of fact, I'm in love with the Breva 1100, it's naked and beautiful!! Back in the 70's, I thought Moto-Guzzi was the ugliest bike I ever saw, it was big, ugly, heavy, and had those big jugs sticking out in front of the riders knees. Things and times do change, the Breva is one beautiful bike. Thanks for your input. XS

If I were a rich man.................

...... my dilemma would be deciding between the new Breva 1100 and the new Griso 1100! Both really appeal to me. Alas, I must scramble and scrape for my pennies, and a new Guzzi is not in my future.... :(

A bud of mine just bought a '97 California 1100. Great bike and great fun. I loved the Griso as a concept, but they nerfed the engine at the last minute.

Anyway, XS, If you really are interested in Guzzi, they might be bringing a new Retro Cruiser model back into the states this year. Check it out - http://motorcyclecruiser.com/newsandupd ... a_vintage/

Ok, it looks like I'm turned off to the 1100cc Yam V-Star, some of the reviews didn't look all that good, so which mid size cruiser is the best and most trouble free on the market today? XS

Define "mid size." 750-800cc? 1200-1400cc? I sat on the new Kawi Vulcan 900 last week, very favorably impressed with the feel of the bike, but hey, it's a brand new model. Who knows how reliable it will be? Friend of mine has 15K trouble-free miles on his Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. I don't care for the looks particularly, but you can't argue with the reliability.

You got to define "best", also. Best at what? Most reliable? Best handling? Most powerful? Most comfortable? Biggest aftermarket support?

Well, it's like this, best in my mind is trouble free and comfortable to ride. I own a 2003 V-Star 650 and I love the bike, but it is miserably under powered compared to what I am used to riding. That's why I was looking at the 1100cc V-star because of the way the seating and controls are laid out. I went from a V-4 Honda down to the Star, and never missed the blazing speed of the Honda, but I do miss the extra cc's when I'm riding two up. The aftermarket goodies of the Star line was also a consideration of mine, there are tons of aftermarket parts available. I was quoted about $ 8,600.00 for a new 1100cc Star with bags, back rest and shield, and that's the price range I'm comfortable with. I haven't shopped Honda or Kawasaki yet, and I will never own another Suzuki because of a bad experience with a VZ800, the dealer, and Suzuki's service center in California. I'd like to stay with 1100cc or larger. BTW, love those new Triumphs, a friend of mine in Ireland rides a triple everyday. He went from a Harley to the Triumph and loves it . XS

Consider a used Valkyrie. Rock solid reliability, impressive handling, super smooth and seamless power. Plus, you won't get lost in the V-Twin crowd. Lots of room for you and your passenger to stretch out and enjoy the ride. You have your choice of the Standard, Tourer and Interstate models. Of all the bikes I have ridden or owned this is by far my favourite and a "keeper".
There is no such thing as a bad motorcycle.
