Is it legal in CA to lane split on a single lane offramp, 'cause it sure would be helpful in rush hour traffic.

Lane sharing is only accepted between two lanes that are going the same direction. If there are two lanes going the same direction there is only one place you can share (between the lanes). If there are three lanes there are two legal places to share and so on. If there is one lane, you cannot share.
I don't think it would be smart to share on a two-lane onramp either... they tend to be jumbled enough with people needing to merge left while others are merging right and so on... you in the middle is not a good addition.

Jeeez it's going to be really tough to move back to the states. We ride wherever the hell we feel like here...

Theoretically you could try it (don't).
Just a quick question, when you lane split, do you rev or anything?

Why rev?
I keep the bike a little closer to the power band than it technically needs to be... but that's so I can scoot if I need to. For the most part it is just like cruising along between the lines on an MSF course. Easy for everyone.
The biggest worry is someone doing the California "turn, look, signal" lane change... and extra noise isn't going to prevent that. They'll do that no matter what you are driving, no matter where you are... only difference is that you notice it more on a bike 'cause you are more vulnerable.

I dunno about off-ramps, but I've passed some slow-azz bozos on the ON-ramp a few times. Sorry, Buddy, but I'm not about to merge with 75mph interstate traffic doing 50mph!
C'YA!!!!
