I found this at M.O. and it's the first ad of its kind in NY:
http://news.motorcycle.com/article.motml?sid=3991
It actually tells the real reasons for accidents wow.
Oh and some bad news in the same site right on top of the topics:

I managed to skip going through their forums for this one.

This is very similar to a UK ad that is much more critical in pointing out the inattentiveness of many drivers. Think someone posted it up here before but the video can be found on this site at the bottom below all the pictures.
WARNING: Very graphic and probably not for youngins or those that preach the dangers of motorcycles. UK safety campaign video at the bottom.

Charged with violation of right of way... stuff like that really pisses me off.

Mag - I agree with you. They shouldn't get wreckless endangerment or something of that sort. If you can't pay attention, don't drive.
To the vids above - Good ads, but in the UK one, at the first look to the right they didn't edit the motorcycle in?

I first thought that too, so I watched it again several times. I think at the 'second look' to the right, they had the car driver actually turn his head farther around and actually move his head back to reveal the oncoming motorcycle. And the motorcycle was traveling forward, so in the time it took the guy to look both ways, the motorcycle had moved close enough that he was in a 'contact zone', so to speak.
I *think* the first look to the right his head turn was kinda halfassed and didn't get all the way around.
Of course, the point of the video, 'take time to look for motorcycles', I think they got that point across very well. It only takes a second or two for a motorcycle to move up into a the zone.
And don't they in the US driver's ed teach you're suppose to look LEFT RIGHT LEFT before pulling out from any intersection? They did when I took the class. Not to mention, a big one they do here, don't pull out into a blind intersection to see around the corner, but stop before the intersection and creep out in case there is cross traffic...and there usually is! Me!

I get my knees cut out from under me when I go jogging if I don't hesitate and EVERY driveway/road.

The fact that they said most accidents are caused by inattentive drivers is what was surprising. The point of not seeing the bike in this commercial is to point out that the driver wasn't even paying attention until the bike hits them.
As for right of way violations only a few states have made the penalties stiffer while the rest of the US is dragging its heels.
