ok, i think im ready to attempt wheelies. My bike is an 05' R6 and i feel pretty confident with my riding ability and really wanna try wheelies. My dilemma is foot position, I see some guys keep seated with their feet on the pegs and butt on the seat and I also see others with one foot on a peg and one on the rear footpeg. What's easier? What's more controllable and safe? Thanks!

I doubt you are going to get many replies, positive ones at any rate...

Hoiking the front wheel in the air isnt about being safe, its about having more balls than good sense...

But if you are going to do it

1) Learn off road, hoiking wheelies on the road is neither big nor clever. Yes I have done, so that means that I am neither big nor clever.

2) Don't do it on the R6. Accept that you are going to drop the Bike doing this. Experienced stunters can lose control during a wheelie, right now look at your R6, its a pretty bike, would you hit it with a hammer? No, right so buy a cheap salvage or beater bike. after all you are only goin to practise off road right?

3) Having accepted there is a high chance of dropping the bike then look to your gear. Chicks may dig scars, but injuries hurt and mean that you'll be off the road while you are healing. Motocross armour ought to do it.

I think you will feel more comfy standing up/on the passenger pegs... although, everyone is different.

Start slowly with your butt on the seat and both feet on the riders pegs because if things go pear shaped as you are learning you have the best chance of keeping it together.
Once you get more confident and can stay up longer, then decide what is more comfortable/looks cooler etc.
