pls critique my ride!

i would like to hear some tips for my improvement.

i went to this new canyon... it was fun and even closer to our house. i'd like to try it again some other day.

it's kinda boring but i really appreciate it if you could give me some pointers.

Not shabby. I'm no expert, but I do watch MotoGP quite a bit as well as watching my cousin race professionally for 5 years. Here's my take.

The Good:

- Nice throttle control on your exits
- Good speed control coming into your turns

Things to improve on:

- Increase your entrance angle. Before you hit the apex, you're not wide enough.
- Exiting the apex, come out of your turn a bit less and later.
- Move your butt out of the seat more. Your body seems a bit stiff which hinders your lean.
- Your line needs a bit more cosistency. It great one turn, but then the next, you're taking a less agressive angle.

Your've got a tone of lean angle left before the pegs even come close to scraping. Moving your arse out in order to help your leans will allow you to glide through the twisties better. I think you should also turn your head a bit more to help you with stay with your optimal line.

You look pretty good for what...going onto your second year? How many times have you gone down that canyon? I'd practice the hell out of that run. It looks fantastic.

i could really be more daring but a lot of those right hand turns are blind so im worried about it.

and yeah, it was the 1st time i've been on that mountain canyon road.

and it's my 1st year, started last january, gixxer1000 was stolen last april, i got that gixxer750 this month.

reagarding my butt. :laughing: i was pretty sure only half my "O Ring" is on the saddle when i make those turns but i guess should hang off more.

oh and that canyon road is way longer than that vid. probably 25 miles of twistie goodness.

again, thanks a lot for taking the time to watch that boring vid. :D

i'll try to fix those bad points and try to reinforce the good ones next time i go back there.

You're not holding a consistant line. Back and forth across the road. While this might be okay when flying by yourself, it's ALL HELL in a group ride. You're swinging awfully wide on your lefts. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the yellow lines through the turn, it'll help you maintain your line through a corner better. That's assuming you aren't trying to race.

Most of the turns you're leaning OUT of the turn instead of INTO it. This artifically increases the lean angle, and significantly reduces your ability to turn in the long run. Start experimenting with dropping your shoulder or your hip as you turn and you'll find you track around the corner a lot easier.

You look like the red rider though.

Just a suggestion: Dub over the video with a cool music track or at least ask the idiot with the camera to stay behind the freakin' windshield. I can't listen to 10 minutes of hurricane force winds.

keep eyes on the yellow line and try dropping my shoulder on my hip.

i'll try that next time.

could you elaborate on the leaning out/leaning into part? im not quite sure i get what you mean.

ok, but i give mad props to my sis and her BF, they're the ones in a car but they're on a convertible, so that's why the wind is so loud.

he actually burned out his brake pads during this run and im glad he didn't run me over. anyway... he's a good driver.

all in all not too shabby.

some pointers. Work on your lines, your not using enough of the road, that could bite you in the "O Ring" on a decreasing radius turn. On left turns you should be near the yellow line and on right turns you should be near the white line. Your also too far inside when initiating your turns, start your turn at the outside edge, move inside when approaching the apex (use a late apex on the street, gives you more wiggle room should you get a nasty suprise), move back outside as you exit the turn.

definately get your butt out of the seat more, drop your inside shoulder and hip and get that knee out there, dont worry you have knee sliders on your leathers and it will be awhile before you have to worry about them touching pavement.

on the upside. your throttle control was good from what I could hear and see and your enterance speeds were good (you weren't coming in hot).

and thanks for the praise about throttle control. i know i still have to work on it for the rest of my life but it's one of the few things that i should be good at since i started on a 1000. i had to be decent at throttle control or else, i wouldn't have survived on the 1000.

regarding lines... why should i be near the yellow whan it's a left hand turn and near the white on a right hand turn?

shouldn't i be doing an outside-inside-outside line?
