Scooters making news

Wow, the FOX news had a story on scooters as an efficient and cheap means of trraveling. Of course there was a kicker, this council member who is head of transportation said that we had to be careful of mixing it up with traffic and he didn't even mention the fact that other drivers should be aware of us as well. Looks like the government here sucks big and so do many NYers. Pedestrians, Taxis and people who open their doors at maximum are a typical danger. So some good news but with reluctance.

Meanwhile I was being attacked by some nigerian immigrant (flag on window) in a gold toyota by him crossing over the yellow trying to ram me on the side and on the back. I guess I have a reason to tell the cops why I was speeding but there were none around and now there's no way to report it to anyone since no damage was done.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Well, that's how it is here in JPN. Scooters are everywhere. Most of them are <50cc as they are cheap to drive (and all associated fees and regulations) and licenses are easily obtained. Streets are unbelievably narrow and crowded, scooters are often the quickest means of trasportation.

Drivers here are NOT careful with any vehicles, much less motorcycles and scooters. The rules for scooters (and possibly motorcycles) is that they are to hug the shoulder and cars will readily pass them by. Remember the narrow roads? Well that and rough unkept streets are perilous for anything on two wheels.

Anyhow, scooters are a great means to get around inner city with no parking and tight tight areas. But the downside is that car drivers absolutely do not take care or even look for 2wheels. They have no regard.

If you thought riding on a big regular sized bike was dangerous enough looking out for the other guy, scooters are at serious risk. (I say scooters in regards to the step-through design on 2 wheels, not so much the engine size).
