Those gosh New Yorkers...thinking their city is the
only city.
Though I doubt I'll ever see another post from you again, thanks Andrey for the site. I'll check it out.

After spending 4 years driving a car around NYC, I can vouch for the fact that driving there is different than any other place. I can see why a site just for New Yorkers is neccessary.

I'll never forget the mix of happiness and shock when I saw a Harley parked in Tribeca, deep in the heart of NYC last New Years Eve...
Happy because I was missing my own ride at the time...
Shocked because I'd seen how crazy New Yorkers drive and figured a biker would have to be even more insane to ride there!!!!

I've found that the yellow cabs you can deal with because you fully expect them at any given moment to swerve across four lanes of traffic...But those damn Lincoln Town Cars...sheesh...they're a real abomination

+1 SuperRook.
But don't forget the most obvious of all NYC vehicles. BUSES! While the most obvious, they often are also the most unpredictable. And with the odds being in their favor for any collision, they are quite the road monster.

Yeah, I expect crazy driving from cabs, buses are more of a shock. I try to stay the "fudge" away from them.

The only time I can remember seeing a motorcycle in NYC the guy was being taken away in an ambulance.
Edit: Come to think of it I also remember seening a bike on the sidewalk parked, covered, and chained. According to Motorcyclist NYC is Number 1 for accidents and 5 for theft out of US cities.

NYC is not as bad as you all think. I frequently ride to the city with my wife on the back. She loves going to the city and parking is a beatch so I take the bike in. As long as you have 2 working eyes and a normal functioning reaction, you'll be fine!
