Well it's no problem since you went back to the driver to give your information to make it right.
....right?

You probably shattered their mirror and now whenever they see a motorcycle they're going to do all they can to "pee" them off! It's all your fault! I blame YOOOOUUU!!

I hardly ever split up to the lights at intersections. I'll do it if I know I'm dealing with a short cycle, but if I expect to get through on the green that's good enough for me. I do position myself so I can split if some homicidal hippie tries crashing their luv truck into me... but I don't bother with the actual splitting.
I can't tell you the number of times I've had a bike split past me up to the light, take off like a jackrabbit, and take off at the next light (which I saw because I was three vehicle lengths behind him again) and take off at the next... I coincidentally followed one guy for about five miles (and a bunch of traffic lights) with him splitting up to each signal and me just rolling along like I was in a car. After a few cases like that I decided it wasn't worth the effort...again, unless I know I won't make the green without splitting.
On the freeway... if traffic flow slows below the speed limit I'm splitting. It's amazing how often you can split a mile or less and go from misery to clear sailing.

I've had a few of those...
Only I always pull to the side in case they are pissed off, which they never have been.
It's just a little love tap...
I forgive you, Vermillion.

Clipping mirrors means you attempted an inappropriate lanesplit, or your skill is lacking. Lanesplitting requires serious mastery of low speed maneuvers and good low speed stability, something most sprotbiles and their riders are not known for.
V, you had better add U turns and figure 8's at 3 mph to your parking lot practice regime if you plan on continuing to split. It was just a lovetap this time, next time it could be a nasty crunching sound.
