Helmets returnable?

I know cycle gear has a 30 day exchange policy (i've used it a couple times) but I wanted a Schuberth C2 which they didn't carry so I had to buy it at my local BMW dealer last week. Fits good (made sure before I bought it) but the ventilation is "pee" POOR! Compared to my Shoei X-Eleven and Arai Astral-X there is almost no ventilation at all. The other two helmets give me constant airflow over the face and head and I don't feel anything with the C2. Just the slightest hint of something on the top of my head. And my head is shaved bald, so if there is going to be a breeze, i'm gonna feel it. The houston heat is just too much for this helmet unless i crack open the face shield. I've read the manual a bunch of times and even asked on other forums incase I missed something, but unless I crack the face shield open it's like a sauna in that thing. So I was wondering if I should even attempt to ask about exchanging the helmet for something else at the BMW shop? I figure they wouldn't be able to re-sell it since it is technically used (even though all the stickers and interior tag is still on it) but didn't know if they would be able to do anything on their end with Schuberth USA to help me out.
Or am I just screwed and need to take the hit on it by ebaying it?

Wouldn't it have been easier to call up and ask them rather than make a post here asking us?

I think he just doesn't want to hear the truth right away without at least some kind of encouraging thought
pseudopod, the real question is what ever possesed him to go from the two absolute winners to some unknown product.
I would guess that if you only wanted a refund, you'd be out of luck..possibly if you wanted an exchange they might do something.

Return policies vary from dealer to dealer. You'd have to call them to see.
30 days is typical as long as you don't go out riding with it.

Ya know, I was gonna say why I didn't call the dealer yet knowing I'd get that response from someone...
I just wanted to see if it was a completely idiotic question to ask the dealer or if it was normal for a reputable dealer to except an exchange on such an expensive helmet before I called. If they say no at first, should i bother arguing? Like I said, i have only dealt with Cycle Gear in the past where it's completely normal.

I assume you meant me, not psuedopod.
The Astral was damaged and needed to be replaced. Never fit quite right. the Shoei was giving me a hot spot on the forehead after an hour ride. Decided I'd like to try a modular. The Schuberth is far from unknown and the reviews have been outstanding.

Yeh I did intend to quote you, but oh well. I just got one of the new Shoei J Wings for the summer here where it's been above 100 deg for a week or more. It's a 3/4 lid with a full shield and admittedly a little less protection especially in the chin area but way cooler. Everything is a trade off.

get a mini solar panel and a few computer fans ... stick the solar panel on the top of the helmet and drill a few holes in the sides for the fans.
Problem solved
(Damn I need to patent that Idea!)

For liability purposes we, at the dealership that I work at, will NOT allow a return on ANY helemt (dirt, street, 1/2)...it is for the sole purpose that someone could have taken the helmet to the parking lot and dropped the helmet (still with tags) and try to bring it back....it may (not likely from a simple drop) be damaged.
I actually had a guy just yesterday try to exchange his HJC dirt helmet just for a different color that he had bought from me the day before....sorry, can't do it.....I try to remember to tell EVERYONE that buys a helmet from me that they are not returnable. Our invoices DO say the same thing though....
Anyway...I would still call them and ask...if you have spent enough money with them or if you know someone there, they may take it back.....

Isn't that kinda like trying to return underwear or swimming trunks? What the hells the dealer gonna do with a used sweaty lid???
