I'm rollin a '03 YZF R6, and it is about an inch and a half to high for me when I am standing with it. I am lookin into get it dropped. However, in Anchorage it is impossible to find anyone that works on rockets w/o going to the dealer (and their prices are way out there). Is this something I can do myself since it is a small drop? I would rather have it done right (ie not me)! Where could i find the how to manual for that? or a shop that will do it through the mail? I tired Google to find something, perhaps I am putting the info in wrong, but I am turing up with either nothing of value, or it's written in Swahili. Please help, any links or feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated.

The front forks can be moved up in the triple clamps some, but not a great deal. If you raise them too much, the front wheel can contact hardparts on your bike. There are aftermarket suspension companies who can perform internal work and spring replacement to make them ride lower safely.

Thanks! Can I safely lower the back without lowering the front? The front is fine, and a small rear adjust would alleviate my problem. Thanks again for the assist!

I think you will be fine, but the bike is going to handle differently.

By lowering only the rear you are slightly increasing the rake. Just keep this in mind after you lower the rear - your bike may handle a bit differently, so ride easy the first hour or so to get used to the new 'feel'. If you don't like the way the bike feels, i would recommend replacement springs for the forks to lower the front and get it back in line ... not moving the forks up in the clamps.
