The Bike's Gone...

Woe is me! I don't have the bike for a night and a day! It needed the 4000 mile service, and the only time I could drop it of was right before close today. The Honda dealer tells me he should have it done by noon tomorow, but I don't get out of classes till after they close. No bike till Saturday! Woe!

Bet I made you think I sold it or it got stolen before you clicked on it,

The maintenance schedule says they replace spark plugs (sounds like hooey to me), change the oil, inspect all sorts of things (there's a long list), and clean the crank case breather. Basically, I think it's a fancy oil change, but since it's listed as one of those "required" maintenance things by the manual, and the estimate is between $65-75 might as well get it done.

Is it just rubbish and fancied up oil change from your experience?

That service should get everything but the valve adjustment (Excluding all other fluids like brake and coolant). Valves should have been done at the 600 mile service then every other service.

Curious as to what they charged you. We would charge 1 hour @ $70. Not including the oil, filter, crush washer.

We are slammed at work right now. KA-CHING!

$75 is a decent price. I wonder if they will try to add-on some stuff tho. Thats what usually happens at the car dealer.

Anyways everything you listed could be done yourself if you have the time. I can understand if you don't tho. I'd rather pay someone to do the work too.

Sounds like I got a decent deal then from the price you listed. It's the same dealer I bought my Shadow VLX and then this one used from. They've been great with service and sales so far. For example when I got my saddlebags installed (I really tried to do this one myself, it was an unmitigated 4 hour disaster. You can't imagine how horrible I am with this sort of stuff) they finished it under the hour they'd estimated, and then charged me twenty bucks less. Maybe that's pretty typical, but in my experiance with car repair shops it hasn't been the case.

do they charge storage fee if you don't pick it up till Saturday? My shop waits a day or two after the service depending on circumstances.

There's a sign that talks about a storage fee, but they're not charging me one.
