Woohoo! i passed all my classes.

#1 Unread post by VermilionX »

i got C in all of them!

hoorah for mediocrity!

considering how much of a slacker i am at school, im pretty happy w/ those results.

i think i should just work full time instead of wasting time at school. i really don't have it in me anymroe to study at school.

on diff note: before we moved here to america, i only needed 1 more year to graduate and become a high school teacher. but since the curriculum is so different here, i won't be getting any credit from those classes in the philippines. im gonna have to do it over from scratch but i didn't feel like it.

Congrats on passing! Think about your decision seriously before deciding to not continue your education. I personally regret not completing my degree. I was about 1 year short of completing my teaching degree and decided I didn't like the politics involved and decided to become a paramedic. Great profession and very exciting for a young person. Now that I'm in my mid 30's and realize I have very little retirement money, I'll probably have to have surgery because of a work related injury (Just the facts of the job. Can't lift 300+ lbs people forever) and I still make less than $13.00 / hour after 12 years as a paramedic.... What an idiot I was. :frusty:

Wow, I always thought the pay for a paramedic was higher than that. Since you were 1 year short of your degree, ever think of completing it part time?

Whatever it is your studying make sure you complete it and get the degree.
If you don't finish you will always regret it.

Futhermore, why not go all the way and be a D.V.M. you're young enough.
And with that bike you can race to emergencies. Just tell the cops there's a b1tch about to give birth.

The pay is higher depending on the area of the country you're in but, when you figure in cost of living, it's still not very good. A nurse makes just about twice as much as a paramedic.

As for going back for my degree, I waited too long. The credits are only good for 10 years. I've been away for 14. It took me about 18 months to get my paramedic training completed after leaving college.

Sorry for hijacking a bit Verm, I agree with MrGompers, go as far as you can now. Chances are, if you "take a break", you won't go back.

Take the summer off, ride a lot and think it over.

+1

He's right. take the summer off. Maybe even up through to the spring semester. Then go back. you'll be kicking yourself otherwise.

Doesnt sound like you need to quit, sounds like you need to get your priorities straight and start studying.

How much do you make at your job? $9, $10/hr? Thats as far as you will ever get without a degree. Its not 'higher education', its 'required education' just to get your foot in the door at any company that will pay you more than snot.

This is a pretty common thing, especially amongst young men. They see all these jobs out there, mostly service jobs, that pay just as much if not more than entry level jobs out of college. What they don't realize, or don't consider, is that those entry level jobs lead to high-paying jobs 10 years down the road. Those dropout jobs? They lead nowhere. Get your degree and in 15 years you can be showing us pics of your Mercedes. Or hey, just drop out of school and in 15 years we can still be giving you recommendations on what 10 year old beater Honda to buy.

Get your act together and WORK at your education. Your all-C's that you are so proud of are abysmal. One thing I learned in college is that, with the exception of a few special classes, most A's are earned with dedication regardless of intelligence. You know what your C's tell me? That you don't go to class, don't study (except probably the night before the test) and you're lazy.
