Passed my MSF today!

#1 Unread post by jonbailey19808 »

I did it! I passed my MSF today and all i have to do is hand in the paper and the DMV gives me a biker lience! The test was much harder than i thought.

On the double U turns i ended up putting a foot down, you lose 5 points for that. You better off going over the lines because you only lose 1 point for that.

You allowed to lose 21 points all together and still pass.

I lost 15 points! The best guy in our group lost 8 and the other 4 were all inbetween.

I am so excited now. I went for a ride on my scooter and man does it feel weird now! It was very strange not having to do anything with my right foot when i breaked on it.

I feel like a proper biker now! This week i will be geting a new bike.

I am so glad i did not just try and learn on my own. I can see why you guys (and girls) recommend it so stronly!

Congrats on passing the MSF. Just remember, just taking the MSF course doesn't fully prepare you for riding on the streets in traffic with your new bike. After getting the bike, get acquainted with it first in parking lots and quiet streets before you take it on the highways. The MSF BRC, is a great intro but I think it it should be at least one day longer.

Jon, Congrats!

Sharp's being polite. The way I've heard it phrased is, "passing the MSF qualifies you to ride a 250cc bike in 2nd gear around parking lots." Like any good joke, there's an element of truth in it, so just be careful out there, man!

jstark47 - yup, that is pretty much sums it up, hahaha. My buddy at work is a MSF instructor and I called him right after I passed the BRC and he said I was now a "Certified Parking Lot Rider"  8)

I got to 3rd gear in the BRC thank you very much

i've been riding the streets before i passed my MSF class.

i got 6pts.

i was so glad that im no longer restricted from riding freeways and nightime.

the right to carry passengers didn't affect me since i have no intention of taking passengers on my bike.

congrats and good luck finding a bike! :D

Now, while you are still in the learning mode, check out www.ridelikeapro.com
Jery Paladino's CD will give you much more hands on instruction in slow parking lot riding & turns than you ever got in class. Best $35 you ever spent.
