just change out the sprockets.

are you wanting shorter gearing for better acceleration or taller gearing for lower cruising rpms?

lower for the rpms and better top speed

Larger (more teeth) front sprocket.

if you really wanna change your gear ratios then take it to mechanics that convert RR bikes into real race bikes.

they know how to remove the limits and maximize the performance of mass produced RR bikes.

it'll be expensive though, im sure. :(

the sprocket change will improve top speed and lessen acceleration... or improve acceleration and lower top speed.

I would be changing out the sprockets on my bike tonight... if it wasn't for....
AN INCORRECT ROUTING AT A UPS FACILITY CAUSED THIS DELAY;THE PACKAGE WAS MISSORTED AT THE HUB. IT HAS BEEN REROUTED TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION SITE
:(

Since I'm changing both front and back from 14t front 45t rear to 15t/42t it'll drop acceleration a bit in 1st and 6th, but 5th will be about the same as 6th is now, and 1st will be useful to higher speeds which should actually improve things a bit. Anyway, my bike has plenty of acceleration for my needs (commuting via interstates). I'm hoping to pick up a couple MPG at highway speeds.

Let us know how the sprock-swap goes on that 250. I'm pretty curious.
