Insurance - need I say more?

The cost of insurance is ridiculous here in Ontario. Last year I got so pee'd off I e-mailed every manufacturer I could find along with MMIC to complain about insurance. The reason I e-mailed the manufacturers was to let them know I would recommend that any new biker check out insurance rates before signing on the dotted line. I e-mailed MMIC to complain about their Open Road program and the costs. If they are an industry association how are they doing their job by approving a member (the insurance carrier, Primmum) to raise the rates so much and remain in their program.
I'm riding a cruiser and last year my bill was just under a $1,000. It went up to almost $1200 and some sports bike people I know were paying over $5,000. Yeah I sh*t my pants too when I heard that.
Well Golly, about 2 weeks after I sent all those complaining e-mails there were MMIC petitions at dealerships to complain about insurance. My Insurance is now $810/yr after switching companies. It's the cheapest I could find.
Any appetite to have an e-mail campaign to get them even lower?

An alternative would be to drop the comprehensive and collision and theft from the policy. It is a personal call, though, because your exposure is much greater that way.

I only have 1 million liability insurance on my motorcycle and I pay $165 a year. It seems Alberta is really quite cheap for motorcycle insurance compaired to the rest of Canada.
In Ontario I'm looking at over $600, and the same in British Columbia.

Well JJ, there is the Canadian Rocky Mountains just 30 minutes away and there are LOTS of twisty roads you can take there.

You mean the Calgary Herald don't you? Edmonton is hours away from the rocks, poor sods, and they probably still have snow on the ground

By the way basic liability on my VTR1000 is $140 a year here in Calgary. I can get the full load for about $540..... You're right, you guys are getting screwed big time!
