Has anyone read the Guide to Motorcycling Excellence?

It's published by the MSF and the full title, not surprisingly, is “The Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Guide to Motorcycling Excellence".

But I imagine that took up too much space on the cover and they shortened it.

Anyways this was released last September and I'm just now hearing about it...which is generally how my ebb and flow of knowledge works.

Anyone read it? I still haven't found a copy of Proficient Motorcycling (will have to order it online I guess) and just looking for books to add to my reading list.

Yes, I read it if the "Second Edition" is the most recent one. It was alright - went over a lot of basics like what is taught in the MSF course (contained lots of color pics if you like those). Was fairly encompassing overall - I even looked for a copy to purchase but could not find it yet. I still prefer "Proficient Motorcycling" though but thought this one might be a good one to add to the reference & reading bookshelf when I locate a copy.

I do so enjoy the colored pictures...they make my day brighter. :)

Anyways, I think I'll skip that in favor of Proficient then. Or actually, whichever I can find first I guess.

I went into Barnes and Nobles to look for a copy today and couldn't find a section that would encompass motorcycles so I asked a clerk and "I didn't even know they had books about motorcycling."

I still think he was pulling my leg but regardless he didn't make a sale that day.

The MSF guide is good, but very basic. The Proficient Motorcycling books are much more detailed. I bought the MSF guide and looked thru it, but wound up giving it to a buddy who had just bought a bike. The MSF guide was just too basic after the proficient motorcycling books. Great for a beginner (Just like the course)
