"Winterized Blunder" It Dosn't Pay to Rush!!!

#1 Unread post by Quick 350 »

"last fall I was in a rush to winterize my bikes before putting them away for winter"

Well now I'm paying for it!

In late October I was winterizing my wife's bike as well as my two bikes. When it came time for the oil change on the last bike my 71 CB 350 I was out of oil. drained the oil out any way and went about the other procedures.

"I'll add oil latter"

Around the same time I was doing this I found out was going in for surgery to have two disks removed from my lower back on November 2nd. The bikes became the last thing on my mind. So was adding oil to my CB.

During my two week stay in the hospital my Father in Law was kind enough to put the bikes away. Along with the three other family members bikes.

arriving home recovery was the only thing on my mind. after three or so weeks I was able to venture out to the shed where the bike are stored. Completely forgetting My CB had no oil I started the bike it ran just as usual. I continued to start the bike at least once a week for the remainder of the winter.

Come last weekend it was time to remove the bike for the beginning of the season. out came the 71 CB 350 as well. Started her up ran just fine. Went to put her in gear and pop she stalls. Ahhh! the clutch isn't working I'll try it again. Started her up again revved it a little into gear one more time pop stalled! With no time to look into it I put her away until the next day.

First thought tighten up on the clutch cable right? started her again same deal. Well may be some moister got into the oil and the disks are a little stuck so I check the oil. "The oil I forgot to install"

So I added the much needed oil and she still runs great but the clutch still isn't engaging. So now I need to tear into her and see what I did to the clutch.

A little slip up!!!

#6 Unread post by Quick 350 »

I try to help out with other peoples questions all the time so I thought if I posted how some times every one makes a mistake. People will feel free to ask more questions. Now they can see even a seasoned mechanic as my self just slip up some times.

P.S. No low oil light
