I've caught the bug again after 20 years of not riding. I rode a lot in the late 70's on two stroke Kawasakis (500, then 750), and early 80's on Yamaha Virago 750. Family, work, life, intervened and I quit riding.

After looking at all the nice bikes out on the market today, I decided to get back into riding. That and the fact that I've been riding snowmobiles for the last few seasons, and the season is just way to short. Riding bikes will extend the season and replace snowmobiling for me.

Signed up for the MSF course to dust off my skills, and just finished up day one today. 4 hours classroom and 5 hours riding. Can't wait to get back out there....

Thanks for the welcome VermilionX.

Finished the course - 100% written, and passed with flying colors on the skills exam. Rusty at first after 20 years, but alot of it came back quickly. The rest will follow with time.

Not sure on what bike to get yet. Leaning toward a cruiser. Really like the Honda Sabre and hear nothing but good things about it. Also considering the Suzuki M50 boulevard, Honda Shadow Spirit 750, and others in that class. I've sat on those mentioned, and they felt right. I thought a 1100 might feel too ig, but was surprised that it didn't and really fit me well. I also like the Harley Fat Boy and Softail, but they didn't fit me as well.

So I'm still up in the air at the moment, but visiting dealers weekly :) Something will just reach out and grab me before July is over I'm sure.

Congrats on passing the course and getting back on the saddle. All the bikes you mentioned sound look good bikes for a beginner or an experienced rider. Have fun shopping and post up some pics of what you finally choose as your steed...

Finally make up my mind, bought it, and drove it home. So here it is.. Sabre 1100.

Just picked it up today, and put 150 miles on it. Other than the MSF course, its been my first real ride in a number of years. Loved it, other than the 90+ temps.

The ride home was uneventful. Took the backroads for about 30 miles to get a feel for the bike before I have to jump on the highway. Did another 70 or so miles on the highway, then another 50 of so on the backroads before going home.

Hope to go out for a short evening ride in a bit.

I never waste time when it comes to my interests :) Life is just too short!

I've been bummed. Haven't been able to ride much because of the weather. Although I rode to work the other day, and had to ride home at night in the dark and rain. Visibility was an issue only when faced with oncoming cars.

Does something like RainX work on the shields? Any other suggestions on keeping visibility up on rainy dark nights?
